ReelChatter of the Month
Hi! I'm Angela! I am juggling two energetic little divas, aged 7 and 4. Between dance rehearsals, working, and the occasional chaos that presents itself, I rely on a steady stream of Starbucks to power through the day - because, let's face it, mom life runs on caffeine and dry shampoo with a sprinkle of magic! You'll often spot me rocking the classic mom uniform: leggings, Uggs, and a messy bun.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Writing and car dancing to almost any genre of music! I love 90s, alternative rock, and country. I love movies and cheesy reality shows too!
Why is mental health and awareness important to you?
Mental health is not talked about enough. Both genders suffer. Women suffer immensely due to social norms, social expectations, and pressures. I've felt it and witnessed it in the many stages of my life.
Do you have any mental health/wellness advice?
No one person is the same. We all feel, share, and experience our challenges in our own way. Just because we are riding the same ship, doesn't mean we are riding the same wave.
Always trust your instincts, and advocate, advocate, advocate.
Favorite quote to live by?
I have 2 :
“Live the life that you want with zero regrets.”
“Things happen for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.”
Who is someone who has inspired you?
This one is super tricky. I'm not sure of any 1 specific person. Parts of many people and experiences inspire me. If I had to name 1, it would likely be my grandmother. I find it fascinating how she can raise 7 children, and never share nor pose any judgments. I am 1 of 14+ grandchildren and even during my less-than-stellar teenage days, I never felt judged.
How did you get started on your writing/blogging journey?
I was enrolled in journalism as my 2nd college diploma. We had to create a website and write throughout the semester-long course. From there, I didn't stop!
Tell us about your love and desire for community service and helping those around you?
I love helping others. In the fall of 2024, I organized and built a community pantry. I've been a member and ambassador in a local mom group for about six years. Sometimes, I bite off more than I can chew. Sometimes, I can become too invested and don't know when to step back. I feel hard. Help hard. And love hard for all the people around me. Google tells me that's "just" part of ADHD. I call it my "super power."
